New Manufacturing Advisory Service and Barometer - Comment from Simon Howes, Managing Director, SWMAS Ltd
While the contract details are still being worked on, we can reassure manufacturing businesses that we have listened carefully to their needs and will continue to provide services that make a tangible difference to their profitability, sustainability and long-term prospects as we have done for the last ten years via our network of local manufacturing specialists.
This is an exciting time as the new service could help create £1.5bn in economic growth, 23,000 jobs and safeguard 50,000 jobs. We will support the Government’s growth agenda, taking a collaborative approach involving partners and relevant third party organisations to ensure manufacturers receive the best possible support in tackling productivity issues, new market opportunities and potential barriers to growth.
I am also pleased to announce the results from our latest South West Manufacturing Barometer survey, which collects information from manufacturers across the region on a quarterly basis to provide a snapshot of regional manufacturing trends as well as an overview of economic conditions and sector issues. The barometer, which has been conducted quarterly for the last two years, provides valuable insights which help us hone our services and provide the right level of support.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who continue to give up a few minutes of their time every quarter to complete our barometer. For the latest results and analysis, see the barometer news piece below.
