Robinson Healthcare Ltd
“More employees are sharing ideas and getting involved.” Jane Lee, HR Manager, Robinson Healthcare Ltd
The Manufacturing Challenge
Robinson Healthcare Ltd is a successful manufacturer of a wide range of quality innovative products for the professional, home and animal healthcare sectors. Products include single use surgical instruments, cotton wool products, a range of wipes, plasters, bandages and baby products.
Robinson Healthcare decided to take advantage of the free training courses offered by MAS to SME manufacturers. HR Manager Jane Lee, who led the involvement of the company, explains: “We were trying to get staff to start thinking more about owning their working environment and process as previously all projects were management driven.”
MAS Action
MAS Training Practitioner, Keith Burton, explains the range of courses on offer to Robinson Healthcare: “MAS has offered eligible manufacturers the opportunity to send employees on training courses based around Lean principles. MAS runs workshops in Workplace Organisation, QCD, Lean Awareness, Process Mapping, Sales and Vision & Strategy. All of the courses are designed to give real benefit to the company and there is no limit to the amount of employees that can attend.”
The decision was made by Jane and the team at Robinson Healthcare Ltd to send 35 of their employees on the Workplace Organisation course. These training events were held around the region and also offered to the company at their own location.
Results
Jane Lee highlights the benefits of sending staff on the MAS ERDF funded workshops: “More employees are sharing ideas and getting involved. There was a sense of pride in being chosen to attend the training and then maintaining those standards taught. We now have better efficiency of machines in certain areas, giving better recoveries for the business. Also we have improved and increased employee involvement.”
